The current Pavilion was built in the 1950s and was originally opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Like many buildings of similar age and construction, it has deteriorated over the years and is now in a very poor state of repair. It is unpleasant to use and an eyesore on the beautiful surroundings. The community has been waiting for improvements for a number of years with various schemes in place but not seen through to completion due to unsuitable plans or time constraints.
That'sSurreyTV came to visit us a few weeks ago during Remembrance preparations and were 'treated' to a tour of the pavilion. Enjoy Katherine's footage!
After much time and research, planning permission was once again granted for a new building in August 2015. Although planning permission was in place, it came with planning conditions that needed to be addressed and signed off before any demolition or building work can take place. This process has taken up much of the last 2 years with each condition taking between 8-13 weeks from submission to decision. All documentation relating to plans and planning permission is available to view on the SHBC planning portal via the following link: WFoR Planning Process
