Welcome to the Windlesham Field of Remembrance 'Remembering the past, protecting the future'
Woodland maintenance update - 2 January 2021 We are now holding regularly work party sessions in our woodland area on the first Tuesday of the month between 10:00-13:00 hrs with much valued advice and support from the Surrey Heath Tree wardens.
As these sessions are held on behalf of a Registered Charity and the fact that we are all Volunteers, working outside, for the good of the Community, this means we are able to carry on under the current Tier Four COVID Regulations. If these change we will, of course, amend/cease activities accordingly.
A 5 metre rule is enforced, tools are disinfected and we ask there be no swopping of tools, volunteers equip themselves with suitable protective footwear and gloves.
This is an opportunity to help our environment and our Community, be in fresh air, surrounded by nature, getting valuable exercise.
our Working Party dates for January and early February will be;
If you are interested in joining, please meet in the car park at the Field of Remembrance at 10am. If you would like further details, please contact Helen on 07947 871 292.
Take care and stay safe. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Field of Remembrance celebrates as we win Green Flag Award Again Record-breaking year as more than 2,000 green spaces across the country get international quality mark On Wed 14th October, parks and green spaces across the country raised their Green Flag Award with pride in a year when millions of people have seen the value of having great quality green spaces on their doorstep. Among them was our very own Field of Remembrance which has retained its Green Flag Award. The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for their management across the United Kingdom and around the world. The Field of Remembrance is one of more than 2,000 sites across the country to collect the award for 2020. Commenting on the Field of Remembrance' success, Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said: “This year, more than ever, our parks and green spaces have been a lifeline and we know that millions of people have used them to relax, meet friends, exercise or simply escape for a short time. “It is testament to the incredible dedication and hard work of parks staff and volunteers that, despite the challenges that went along with record numbers of visitors, the Field of Remembrance has achieved the highest international standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”

24 March 2020: IMPORTANT COVID19 UPDATE FROM THE FIELD OF REMEMBRANCE: Hub bookings: The wellbeing of our volunteers and the community is the most important thing to us. As a result, at this time we are not able to open the community hub for any bookings - we have been in touch with everyone that has a booking to advise them. As you would all expect, we are following the advice provided by Public Health England and the Government.
When the situation changes, we will then get back in touch with anyone who has a booking dated in the future to advise if we are able to progress. We will not be taking any new bookings until further notice.
Use of the Field: The field has had a lot of visitors in recent days. We urge you to take the most recent Government advice and so if you are using the field for your one period of exercise a day, please consider social distancing (keeping 2m apart) and not meeting in groups of more than 6.
