Please help us to keep the space looking great
We want everyone to enjoy the Field of Remembrance and all it has to offer. To respect all the users of the field, we would make the following requests:
- Have fun - enjoy this great village owned field offering open spaces, woodland and wildlife, a coffee shop, pre-school, a hall and meeting space for evening & weekend bookings, a childrens playground, and an outood gym
- We welcome dog walkers to the field but would politely ask that you clean up after your dog - we have young sports teams using the field during the week and we often find dogs deposits on the pitches etc - please use the dog bins provided around the field
- Drones - unfortunately we do not allow the flying of drones on the Field of Remembrance unless it is with the express permission of the Committee and for a specific purpose (e.g. the filming of the Community Hub opening). We ask this as we believe it is not possibly to fully comply with the Drone Code, and we want to safeguard the users of the field from any unauthorised filming
- Please do enjoy picnics at the field but please take your rubbish away with you - and unfortunately, given all of our woodland area, we request that you do not light any fires or BBQ's
Parking at the Field of Remembrance
Our Approach
Objectives of the Policy
Policy
- The Trustees will, in as far as resources permit and site security can be maintained, provide parking spaces in the private car park on the WFoR owned by the Trust for residents and visitors whilst using the WFoR facilities. In addition, the Trustees will encourage residents to visit the WFoR by foot or cycle - cycle racks are provided
- The Trustees are keen that residents and visitors make use of the car park and do not park on the road
- Whilst there are parking spaces (36 in total) available most of the time, there are times when there is more demand than there are spaces available
- Reductions in parking space availability may arise on occasion due to ongoing works and/or planned event. Whenever possible advance notice of any reduced availability will be placed on WFoR Facebook page
- No charge is currently made for residents or visitors parking
Objectives of the Policy
- To maintain the security and integrity of the Windlesham Field of Remembrance whilst enabling residents to make use of the car park to access the Community Hub and/or the Fields and woods
- The Trustees are very aware that any inappropriate incursion is most likely to occur in the early morning or evening when fewer residents are making use of the WFoR amenities
- The safety and security of employees, Trustees and the tenants staff remains paramount and requires that access to the car park can be controlled remotely
- The Field and the woods always remain open to pedestrian access by residents in line with the WFoR Trust Deed
Policy
- The car park barrier will open automatically at 7.30am and close at 6.30pm during wintertime. Opening and closing times will be adjusted in line with ‘British Summer Time’. These times are slightly longer than the times that have prevailed for the past 18 months.
- It is expected that the barrier will be raised throughout the day between opening and closing except in exceptional circumstances.
- Opening and closing times will be prominently displayed by signage in the car park, together with an emergency phone number.
- Organisers of events or activities in the Community Hub or on the Field of Remembrance can arrange opening and closing outside ‘normal, opening’ hours by contacting, in advance, the Community Hub Manager, or in their absence one of the nominated Trustees. (In normal circumstances a confirmed booking will facilitate the opening and closing)
- If a car is ‘trapped’ inside the car park after the barrier has closed automatically the driver will be able to phone the Hub Manager or nominated Trustee who will open and close the barrier remotely. The relevant contact number will be clearly displayed on the signage, together with a warning that this may incur a nominal charge.
- The Car Park is monitored by CCTV
